For some reason, I was surprised that Cardinal Ratzinger had a German accent. DUH!!!

I thought Raymond Arroyo really hit all the key subjects that we rehash on FR - he must have listened to his audience and took their suggestions.

What really hit me was how knowledgable Cardinal Ratzinger was regarding the "crisis of Faith" in the world and specifically, in the USA. I guess from the silence by the US bishops surrounding the subject, I assumed either Rome wasn't aware of the full story or that Ratzinger would also shy away from discussing it. He didn't.

Ratzinger also expressed some concerns regarding the USCCB - sort of like we do although he stopped short of saying it should be dismantled.

Shied away from the homosexual problem in the priesthood - in fact, called it pedophelia as does the mainstream media. I was disappointed in that.

Great job by Raymond Arroyo and I suspect each and every bishop in the USA watched this show although most of them probably dislike (are jealous of) EWTN - musta killed guys like Mahony. Good for Mother Angelica - one nun and $200 bucks goes a long way!

... and every bishop in the USA watched this show

I kind of doubt it. I suspect the ones you mentioned rather dislike the good Cardinal.

the homosexual problem in the priesthood

They must be in denial. How can they not know? Naturally he wouldn't want to talk about it publicly. Not pc.

"...every bishop in the USA watched this show..."

I wish they would. There is much they could learn. However, if many of the bishops feel like many clergy and lay ministers in our diocese, I doubt that they watched.

I once attended a Sat & Sun workshop on "re-making" the parish. I even forget who the book we used was written by (a Jesuit and a nun). Oh, Thomas Sweetser. He predicts all kinds of stuff. The facilitator was a female parish administrator from Chicago. I don't know if she was playing devil's advocate, but she was speaking favorably of a married clergy and many other liberal hot-button issues.

Back to EWTN.

I heard someone mention EWTN and Mother Angelica. Before I could say something positive, I heard a chorus of venomous descriptions about EWTN and Mother Angelica. Besides the lay ministers talking, there were one or more deacons and at least one priest.

The diocesan DRE described EWTN to me as "judgmental" and "they act like they are more Catholic than everybody else."

Most priests that I have met in this diocese either ignore EWTN or make disparaging remarks.

It is not a co-incidence that "fidelitas" (Fidelity) comes from the root: fides (Faith.)

It is ALSO not a co-incidence that Abp Dolan keeps screaming "FIDELITY"--which, to all but the obtuse (and they are legion up here) means FAITH! THE FAITH!
