Paul read the hebrew scriptures , He was a Rabbi. And He read the letters that circulated and most likely read at least parts of the gospels . He quoted Jesus from the gospel of Mark in a letter to Timothy

Luk 10:7   And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

1Ti 5:18For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.

The Bereans: were lauded for their study of Scripture.

So you heard of the Holy Spirit when the bible was read at mass?

Codie, I do not mean to offend you. But by and large MOST catholics (I exclude freepers that stand out from the crowd) are biblically illiterate . They have no foundation for what they believe , they just believe it because someone told them .

I ask my Catholic family why they believe a certain thing and the answers are pathetic..not one knows any scripture on it except catch phrases. There is no historic or literal understanding of it at all. But hey most of the guys can tell you who had the most hits this year and who will most likely win the Superbowl

They know what is important and it is not any more of a relationship with God except communion. I wonder how long a marriage would last if a husband and wife never spoke to each other and only met at the dinner table.
