I view "fallen" and "depraved" as absolutes. "Total" is implied by definition. Kinda like "pregnant."

A woman is either pregnant, or not.

A human being is either fallen, depraved and incapable of saving himself, or he's not. In which case, he's God, which he's definitely not.
