Your response to my earlier comment had a great deal of validity, and your approach of gradual expansion of the eastern rite is potentially workable.

As an aside, Burr was a real wart, and pretty much a paid foreign agent (as was Washington's top general during his Presidency - Wilkinson was in the employ of Spain, and he conspired to adjust the western borders in favor of his paymaster).

Well that's the first time I've seen an EO Freeper say anything vaguely positive about the Eastern rites. ;)

Unfortunately though, this would not result in married men being ordained as priests, as the Eastern rites have to abide by the discipline of priestly celibacy when they are on Latin canonical territory. (Not that they are happy about this infringement on their tradition!)
