Don't buy this. Logic is not an infallible guide to human behavior. Who would have guessed in 1965 that the birth control pill would result in a massive increase in abortions? Planned Parenthood did not, nor the liberal priests who bought their line. But the pill required a discipline that was not welcome to a generation experiencing the heady feeling of sexual liberation.
