While studying history at St. Louis University he converted to the Catholic Church. He was married but his wife left him; he has been celibate since 1979. Dr. Martin teaches history at Longview Community College in a Kansas City suburb.

You're right. So he's a celibate, arguing for celibacy. That makes him even less credible to me.
And I'm not arguing against celibacy; I'm arguing against MANDATORY celibacy.
I'm telling you: the Anglican Dispensation will grow, especially with these openly gay bishops being ordained. It is going to split the Anglican Church. In fact, I think our Episcopal Bishop in Fort Worth, Jack Iker, would LOVE to jump to the Catholic Church, but bishops can't be married.
The more of these married priests and deacons the faithful encounter, the more questions they're going to ask about why CATHOLIC married men can't be priests.
I won't live to see it, but mandatory celibacy is destined for the history books.
