The people in our parish kneel till the priest closes the Tabernacle door, despite being instructed by the priest to sit immediately after Communion.

It's pretty sad when the people have more reverence regarding the Body of Christ than the priest does.

It's a thing with tradition, too. I think most of us "regular" people are loathe to change the one thing that hasn't and shouldn't change greatly unless there is a legitimate reason - it's a connection with all that went before, sort of like an unending chain of rememberance.

Sometimes I think some priests have more in common with the closed world of academia than they do the world containing the unwashed masses. Most of the progressive bs has come out of academia - both political and religious. And it all seems to be somehow mysteriously intertwined.
