And don't forget David Haas. Between him and Marty Haugen I have all but given up participating in singing. I do however sing the occaisional traditional Catholic hymn. We get a token one of those every three or four months or so.

Actually, one of my big pet peeves, and Proulx does this all the time, is taking a familiar melody from the Latin hymns and putting English words to it that have nothing to do with the original piece.

I could have written your posting. Some folks say rosarys during that pop-slop (Haas, Haugen etc.)

Same here. I do not sing the Marty Haugen/David Hass type material. I don't know the words and when I look them up I find they are banal and meaningless. But ya know, I think we are in the vast minority outside of FR! Eagles Wings usually elicits many voices.

I just get kind of offended when a person makes a dialogue and has a made up part for God. And a lot of the lyrics are ambiguous and IMO promote that the Eucharist is the community, stuff like that. Conflicting for my kids, upsetting for me.
