No, I haven't seen the trailer yet. I think I may need to take the kids and go visit my mother and use her DSL connection to see this.

I am looking forward to this film (doesn't feel right calling it a movie).

I truely believe that this movie will transend any language...

I agree with you.

What would need to be said that is not understood?

Don't take my comment wrong. I wasn't criticizing Mel or this film. I was just wondering if carton could understand the Aramaic.

This clip was very powerful I could hardly get through it, but this was so hearfelt and I think every person that views this movie will be inspired.

I believe both Jew and Gentile Christian will come to a positive and truthful realization of there faith by watching this movie.

It will be intersting how Muslims will view this film and if it will be shown in Arab Countries.

From which translation is that verse from?

Douay-Rheims. Not the most recent, but I think that's the one that Mel is drawing from. In the Catholic Church, one of Mary's titles is "The New Eve", and she is often depicted crushing the head of a serpent. Later translation don't use the word "she" but "he", understanding the one doing the crushing to be the seed of the woman.

There is also some imagery in Revelation ties in with this. There's a discussion of it at http://biblia.com/bible/rev12.htm.

Great interview.

"I believe there are no coincidences."

Got that right.

So I showed them the clip... all of them were silent and very moved after they saw it. None are churchgoers and in fact, none are Catholic. Great way to get the word out and in turn, give them something (some One) to think about (and hopefully, they will pass on the clip themselves).

This film, has the potential to be the greatest, most wide-reaching evangelical effort since the Apostles set out.

We will be camping at the theater the night before the opening

So you suppose that if enough catholics camped out all night to see this film, the local parish might send a priest over to distribute ashes on Wednesday morning? Don't forget to chow down before midnight as it will be a day of fast and abstinence. After watching The Passion, though, I imagine most christians will be more focused on feeding their souls rather than their bellies.

QUESTION TO ALL

We know how enthusiastic we are to see this movie because we love Christ with all our heart. It has been my experience that when someone has lapsed into sin, guilt keeps them away from church. Given the level of sin in this world, do you feel it might keep audiences away from this film? Somehow or other, I can't imagine Angelina Jolie or Madonna sitting through a showing. (Don't know whether or not I phrased that very well, but you get the gist of it, right?).

I think many people will go see it because Mel Gibson made it. That's why I commented earlier that only he could pull this off in Hollywood.
Alot of people will be able to go see this film, and (at least outwardly) claim any number of reasons for seeing it: curiosity, historical interest, hear the languages, 'see what the fuss is about', just how gory is it, because it's 'art', etc etc.
In that regard, this film is very very accessible, and that is great.

I don't know that it'll be screened in any Muslim countries, not sure what sort of international release the film will get.
Also curious as to whether it'll end up online (pirated) or not. If so, many more people will see it than just go to the theatre (not that I am advocating that lol).

From St. Jerome's Vulgate then translated into English at Douai around 1600.
