The DE's pretty busy (my Dad had the job once). But if you call him back I'm sure he'll respond. Most units are sponsored by churches, schools, PTA's, or veteran's or other fraternal organizations. I imagine your first choice would be whatever parish you join, or a local unit sponsored otherwise that would include the boys from your son's school. He could ask around the neighborhood kids to see what Pack they are in, or you could ask your neighbors. But the DE's your best source if you want a choice.
