ST. LOUIS - A defrocked Roman Catholic priest was convicted Thursday of exposing himself to three boys while serving as an elementary school counselor.

James Beine, 61, was found guilty of four felony counts of sexual misconduct involving a child. Jurors recommended four years in prison on each count; sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 28.

Beine earlier this month was sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison on charges he possessed child pornography.

Beine was dismissed from the priesthood in 1977. In the mid-1990s, the Archdiocese of St. Louis paid $110,000 to settle two lawsuits that alleged Beine sexually abused boys more than 30 years earlier.

Ed Postawko, an assistant prosecutor, told jurors in closing arguments that Beine exposed himself to the elementary school boys for "perverse pleasure."

Beine's attorney, James Martin, had argued his client should be acquitted, given inconsistencies in the boys' statements.

Meanwhile, two former priests were arrested Thursday in California for allegedly molesting children. One was accused of molesting two girls in the 1960s. The other allegedly molested five children between 1977 and 1986.

A third California priest, now retired, was ordered to stand trial on four counts of lewd acts with a child.

During a radio interview, political speech writer Peggy Noonan said she is preparing a book on the life of JP2; speaking of his tenure as pope as having a tremendous impact on the world.

It would seem Noonan must close her mind to the incredible harm - past and present - he has refused to halt. IMHO, this one man has done more harm to His Church than any other pope in the history of The Church.

ABSENCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY, DERELICTION OF DUTY, MISFEASANCE, DESTROYING THE TRADITIONS OF THE CHURCH, CONDONING BY SILENCE PERVERSIONS OF THE ORDAINED AND RELIGIOUS - These are the seeds of evil JP2 has done nothing to stop in every continent of the world.

IMHO history will mark the reign of JP2 as the darkest chapter in the history of the Church. This will be the judgment no matter the closed-eyes spin Peggy Noonan or any other person might put between the bindings of a book.

Thanks to the do nothing Vatican, we have websites dedicated to bringing attention to the evil practices known to be thriving within the Church. An example is Priest Abuse.

Can JP2 cleanse the Church before he dies? Yes. Will he? With great regret, I'm forced to write; I don't think so.

The root of this exposure of evil in the Roman Catholic Church lies in the absolute absence of accountability and duty to the offices held by those with the title of bishop, cardinal, or pope.

Had they been mangers and executives of a company answerable to shareholders, each and every one would have been fired a long time ago.

As a group they are a despicable bunch of bad actors believing themselves to be gods.

The real question is not the Catholic church... they punished him in the only way they can.

the real question is how many kids has he molested SINCE then? And why hasn't he been prosecuted before now?

The answer is that most abuse is ignored by social services. Blaming the priests is a way to ignore that the Catholic church is the main organization opposing the sexual revolution. You already see how the boyscouts are persecuted. The Baptists and Pentecostals who oppose the sexual revolution are ignored, but will be next...

The fact that most "sexual abuse" is by mom's boyfriend or other authority figure who rapes young girls under age 15 is ignored. (15 % of girls under age 15 have had sex, and this is too often presented in the press as a need to give the pill to these girls, not as sexual abuse even though the perpetrators are older men, often relatives).

If you are Roman Polanski or Woody Allen, you even will be lauded by the pc elites...
