As usual, it is the Bishops, and not the laity, clamoring to do away with Holy Tradition.

Remarkably, many catholics have now decided to personally reinstate these practices in their personal lives. And, frankly, I feel that carries far more weight with our Lord. It is now a "chosen" sacrifice as opposed to one that is imposed.

The only problem I saw with the old discipline was that it was not liveds as a sacrifice, and people were always looking for ways around it. People simply had their "Fish Frys". Unless you hated Fish (like I do), it was no big burden to skip out on meatloaf or pork chops or hamburgers on Fridays.
