What is being demanded is being raped and the rapist demanding that you support him for life and keeping silent to the authorities so the rapist avoids publicity and more importantly, jail time.
I'm not Catholic but if I were I'd seriously consider ever giving another penny to the Church.
A more appropriate response and one which occurs in real life is that one's tithe gets redirected to particular Catholic charities or religious orders or is remitted to Rome.
