Prayer Request- Tests for Arthritis Abnormal
April 8, 2003 | Hobsonphile

Posted on 04/08/2003 5:01:32 PM PDT by Hobsonphile

I have had problems with my joints, particularly in my hands, wrists, knees, and ankles, for several months now, coupled with a general feeling of ill health. I just got a voice mail from my doctor saying the blood tests they ran last week to screen for arthritis came back abnormal (they checked ANA, Sed rate, CBC, and rheumatoid factor). Twenty-three is young for this, but I suppose this is the influence of my mother's genes- Mom also had arthritis at a young age. Anyway, next stop is the rheumatologist. I only hope whatever this turns out to be, it can be effectively managed.

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: prayerrequest
Please pray that my doctors can nail down an accurate diagnosis and administer an effective treatment protocol.

Things I Do in My Free Time: READ, READ, READ- now accepting good book suggestions.

The King James Bible, (Authorized Version Only)

(NOT the 'NKJB' (new king james bible, No NO, NO.)

The King James Bible, (Authorized Version Only)

Get the C.I.Scofield Reference (1917 ed.) King James Bible, (Authorized Version Only!)

Most of the 'Scofield' notes are excellent!

Maranatha!

Have you been in any tick infested areas?
Your symptoms sound a bit like Lyme disease.

My prayers go out to you, Hobsonphile. You know, when I met you at the Fourth of July picnic last year, I thought "this woman has a chance to be one of the intellectual leaders of her generation." I don't know if I've ever met a person of your age who had as many good insights on the state of the world.

The one saving grace is that arthritis is in the joints and not the mind. I still predict a bright future for you. Even if you do have arthritis, I would not be surprised to see you deal with it and turn out commentary that will be widely distributed and discussed. So, fight the good fight. You are a conservative, so I know you're a fighter, not a whiner! I wish the best for you, but having met you just once, I know you're tough enough to deal with whatever the future holds for you.

I am praying for you. Waiting for results can be harder than knowning what you face. For now, let go and let God. Enjoy yourself moment by moment, as hard as that may sound.

Update: I just spoke with my doctor. He says the ANA, the rheumatoid factor, and the sed rate were all suspicious, especially the ANA and the rheumatoid factor. The likely diagnosis is rheumatoid arthritis. Thank you to all of you who have sent your well wishes.
