OBSERVATIONS:

[1] There seems to be a significantly reduced number of Protestant Threads (KJV Only being the exception for sure) in the FR Religion Forum.

[2] There seems to be a reduced number of FR Protestant posts in the Religion Forum.

This thread is a place to discuss these observations.

Believe it or not, in my youth that would have been taken as a huge compliment. I'll consider it one again.

Religion-bashing is apparently not your hobby, but you've said some hurtful things.

As have you - against my faith, my friends, and my person. That's how shooting matches start. I'm not sure when it started, but I know I had the ABUSE button pushed on me for talking about the weather in a chat, and you pushed it.

Bill, one of the factors here is that you have fostered an abrasive "on-line" personality for yourself. You take controversial stances on a number of topics. You've made posts critical of Marines being baptised, and critical of PFC Jessica Lynch being called a "hero" among other topics. You're critical of Israel and sympathethic of the Palestinians. You say that I worship "that brutal, uncaring and hateful creation that you call "god." You tell people they're idiots and worse. And you expect people not to shoot back?

Had I known nothing about the LDS "Word of Wisdom", I'd have said "Are you drunk?

I'd like to think that your posts can be chalked up to you having some "kick the dog" days. Oftentimes, I've tried to take your behavior for simply that. You tone the language down, use the ABUSE button a bit less, and I'm sure you'll find la petit cabal to be much easier to live with.

Yes, I DO take a controversial position on some subjects.

I don't hew to the "conventional wisdom" that Islam and Muslims are "evil."

I don't agree that there is a "right to smoke tobacco" when you're in public and others are affected.

I don't think the Pope kissed the Qu'ran.

I don't believe going off the gold standard was the beginning of the end of civilization as we know it.

Everything on this forum is "opinion." Often the opinions are based on fact, but two people may view the same fact, and draw different conclusions.

I disagree with using that type of inflamed rhetoric. I have seen no evidence that the Pope is gay, but any catholic would have to admit the a significant number of bishops and priests are. Calling the Pope a "drooling moron" is uncalled for, but can there be a discussion of his dimished capacity???

And finally, calling catholic laity pedophiles across the board is irresponsible, but the fact that it is the Catholic laity that has supported and enabled the pedophiles can hardly be denied. The catholic bureaucracy knew that they could hide the scandals, move the offending priests, pay hush money, etc and the laity would still support them even if it all came out. They were right. The laity is ultimately responsible for the continuation of the pedophilia in the church.

Yet, three hours after you made this post you came onto a Catholic thread of no theological importance to post this gem.

The question was a fake priest and "invalid" sacraments. That is of "no theological importance" to you??? My "gem" of a comment concerned our relationship with God not being dependent on someone else.

My comment that a catholic with a clean conscience is not guilty of the "sin" of his "priest" is offensive to you??? If the catholic knew the priest was fake, or continued supporting the church or priest after the fraud was discovered, that would be a different story.
