The Novus Ordo is self-imploding. Since the 70's I have heard the constant prayer "pray for vocations". There is no need to outlaw the N.O. because there will be few priests to say it in the future. It's a self-solving problem.
Traditional seminaries on the other hand are bursting at the seams. Whether these seminaries are supported by Rome or not will determine the strength and scope of the future Church.

Traditional seminaries on the other hand are bursting at the seams. Whether these seminaries are supported by Rome or not will determine the strength and scope of the future Church. The fault line of progressive/orthodox falls within the Church as well. Seminaries in orthodox diocese, like in Nebraska, are also "bursting at the seams." These are seminaries that are NO.
The problem of progressive elements within the Church is indeed "Solving itself." The need to schism is unclear.
