95% Celt and bred a Catholic. Heehee. Now is this from your mother or your father?

He thinks that whether or not a man has homosexual tendencies is irrelevant, provided he is sufficiently mature and socially well integrated. We were just discussing this, weren't we? I've got to be honest, of all the openly gays I know, none of them show signs of adult maturity. Not one. That is not to say that all other people show maturity.... but Jeez, not one!

Although I'm skeptical that there will be a real crackdown, I'll gladly welcome the news if its true. It will come, but will have to be measured in "Church" years. The Pope can only speak, will others listen? Yes, and they already are and have been - they're the younger generation. The heterodox generation probably, short of a direct miracle of God, will have to die out. Until then, they will continue playing all their tricks and games. Their days are numbered though. They have no life giving message for Christians so that their real damage is measured by how many people leave the Church. The Church has seen, and survived, all this before. She will do so now!

Monsignor Roderick Strange says that the crisis in morale caused by the sex scandal can only make the situation worse. Good!
I'm interested in the young men determined now, more than ever, to be Priests because of the scandals coupled with their love of Christ and His Church. Soldiers of Christ with valor, honor, and virtue eager for the battle which lies ahead. Talk about maturity!

"Traditional values"? I had hoped it would speak to more than homosexuality. Here in America, I'd say the contempt of so many of the laity for Catholic teachings about human life is an even bigger problem, followed closely by the disregard for Catholic teaching about the permanence of marriage. In both cases, American bishops have bent over backwards to assure their flock that God loves them no matter what (in other words, do whatever you want but keep on paying the bills). Not until we see a crackdown on abortion-loving Catholic politicians and an end to the scandal of annulments-on-request will the Church here be in any position to say it is upholding traditional values.

Old Greeks or new ones? I am simply talking about a typical French put down of perfidious Albion.

There was an infamous gang of homosexuals in the British Foreign Service,I think they were busy during WWII and were outed 30 some years ago. Kim Philby was one of the names I recall and then maybe an Anthony Blount? They betrayed their country and several defected to Russia when they were discovered. At that time it was posited that the British Prep schools were training grounds for homosexuals and bi's.
To: saradippity
Kim Philby wasn't homosexual (he had four wives and many mistresses). The other four men in the Cambridge Communist spy ring were (Anthony Blunt, Guy Burgess, Donald Maclean and John Cairncross).
The current scandals in the Church and the spy scandals in Britain give testimony to the subversive nature of homosexuality.

Both and a tinge of Bavarian.

Thanks for the ping.
Doesn't it drive you nuts that everything is either 'conservative Catholics' or 'liberal Catholics'?
The Church speaks. If you are a Catholic, you believe when She speaks She speaks Truth. You listen and you act accordingly. Or you don't.

I'm on a Mac at the moment. It didn't come up.
Seriously, I'm a lot more like the Celts. And no, not all of them were Irish.
