Matthew wasn't implying anything. He was very explicit. Joseph didn't know Mary until Jesus was born.

I thought we already went through this.
The culminating point of Matthew ch.1 is the birth of the Messiah and not the personal aspects of marriage of Mary and Joseph. And Matthew's until refers only to the birth of Christ.

Let me present to you the weakness of your interpretation of the word until based on three quotes from St. Matthew's Gospel containing the word. In the three examples until serves as rhetoric suspense before a culminating point rather than an indication of change in specific actions. I used Darby Translation :-)

Matthew 12:20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, until he bring forth judgment unto victory.

Q: Will he then break a bruised reed and quench smoking flax?
Matthew 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste of death at all until they shall have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Q: Then they will taste death, huh?
Matthew 22:44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand until I put thine enemies under thy feet.
Q: Then do what? Sit elsewhere?
In each of the three examples the actions described first in the sentence don't change for the opposite (as my silly questions show) but become irrelevant at the culminating point.

It is the same in Matthew 1:25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son.
