Connected Actions

Read: Proverbs 22:1-8

He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow. —Proverbs 22:8

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 3-4; Hebrews 11:20-40

My son Steve was running the best cross-country race of his life. Just a high-school freshman, he earned a spot on the varsity team.

That's when Steve decided he wanted to go even faster—but not on foot. So he spent a Saturday racing a dirt-track motorcycle. All went well until he misjudged a jump and ended up with his leg under a Yamaha.

Nothing was broken, but having a banged-up calf muscle took a toll on his cross-country season. His times got worse, and he missed making the varsity team for the state finals.

Steve learned an important lesson: All of our actions are connected. Each action affects other areas of our lives.

Sometimes we try to keep parts of our lives separate from our faith in Christ. One example is thinking that watching immorality on TV does not affect our walk with God. But the Bible says, "He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow" (Proverbs 22:8), and "He who sows to his flesh will . . . reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will . . . reap everlasting life" (Galatians 6:8).

All elements in life are inter-related. We must make sure that each thought, each action, and each word flows from a heart of Godliness—so that everything we do is for God's glory, honor, and praise. —Dave Branon

Surer than autumn's harvests
Are harvests of thought and deed;
Like those that our hearts have planted,
The yield will be like the seed. —Harris

The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.

There is not a place to put this so...

I was to have my 3rd back surgery on November 19th. Instead I will be spending the day having my blood and lungs checked over and over. It seems that I have something weird in my blood and tiny scars all over my lungs, not cancer, not caused by smoking, and not caused by broken ribs. It seems that a toe fungus and the fractured ribs are associated with the scaring. Oh, it is not tuberculosis either.

Has anyone heard of anything like this? The surgery will be my 7th in 3 years, 2 on my back, both hands for carpal Tunnel with a cyst on the right hand, and a biopsy and then a hysterectomy already this year.

This 7th surgery, 3rd back surgery is (essential) to keep out of a wheelchair. I have 2 pinched nerves, fixed from the front, and 3 vertebra that have no disk and are moving forward with every step. ( fixed through the back).

I sat in my pity pool until I finally turned it over to GOD and felt the relief that brings. I know the weird blood test and the scars on my lungs are a blessing, but just wondering if anyone has had this or ever heard of this.

I have screamed about black mold in my house for the last 6 years and no-one will listen, they just laughed and said I was nuts. I suppose I will find out, and I have a 15 year old. If this is the black mold, her lungs will look like mine and she has already had a seizure disorder, Scholosis complete with surgery (back curving one degree every 5 days) and Asthma complete with breathing treatments 3 to 5 times a day.

I am asking for prayers for both Megan and myself that a quick diagnoses be made and a cure or treatment is available.

A black/greenish mold is mentioned in the King James version of the Bible but I have lost the reference. The verses say, take the infected stones outside the city and bury them, shut the house (building) up for 7 days then open it. If the mold is still there, the house is to be destroyed and all stones taken out side the city and buried.

Medical, biblical information, and Prayers needed PLEASE!!!

Rose and Megan

Megan, I have no background in medical knowledge. Or in molds. But I do know about prayer. You will be prayed for. Trust in the Lord.

The Lord has been dealing with me on this subject of our interrelatedness, if you will. As believers we are literally in a Body of Christ, or a building, in a sense, as a Church. This can not be explained, but is real nonetheless.

Ergo, what we do, say or even think and certainly believe affects absolutely everyone on this planet, not because any of us are important, but we were made important. Spirits outside this body do want to join us, though their flesh is acting just the opposite. The harvest must be here.

We all know Yellow Rose of Texas. Her problem is our problem, for she is part of us, and we are part of her. And therefore, in Jesus Name, as one by praying and believing for her deliverance, we become freer.

Rose you must be very frightened (I know I would be) as well as a bit frustrated.(as I know I would be)

I will pray for your peace and that the doctors be given the wisdom of God in this matter.

Are you a born again Christian? God is in control even of things like this you know? So we can rest knowing that He knows the plans He has for you..plans for your good not your woe (loose Jeremiah quote) and we know that to those that are his He makes this promise

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.Rom 8:28

I will pray ..please let us know

Prayer bump

I heartily agree, and pray for all.

But the Bible says, "He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow" (Proverbs 22:8), and "He who sows to his flesh will . . . reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will . . . reap everlasting life" (Galatians 6:8)."

Will and Grace is a "funny" show about a gay man. There is nothing humorous about homosexuality and portraying it as a normal lifestyle is wrong.

I used to watch "Law and Order" until a couple of weeks ago when there was something shown in an episode that was HIGHLY offensive to me. So, I don't watch it anymore. Sad, because I generally enjoyed the show.

"Saving Private Ryan" was on TV last week. I tried to watch it as I had heard it was a great movie and I didn't see it in the theater. I finally turned it off because of the graphic language (yes, on TV).

Personally, I don't think we can continually watch these types of programs and think that our walk with God will NOT be affected. The entertainment industry is slowly but surely desensitizing us to sin and our society is paying for it. I hardly watch TV anymore because watching sin being portrayed as "funny" or "normal" does not bring honor and glory to God.

"All elements in life are inter-related. We must make sure that each thought, each action, and each word flows from a heart of Godliness—so that everything we do is for God's glory, honor, and praise. —Dave Branon"

Now that I have thrown cold water on the discussion (!), let me be quick to add that I am watching the Texas vs. Texas A&M football game this afternoon. It's a GREAT game and highly entertaining!!

I don't watch Will and Grace. I think I turned it on once, saw about 2-3 minutes of it, and decided I didn't like it. I didn't know it was gay. It's just that that kind of show doesn't appeal to me.

I do watch Law and Order. Pretty regularly. What do you remember of the offensive episode?

I watched Private Ryan, and to be honest with you, I've just retired as an Army Chaplain. I think the show pretty honestly portrayed the range of troops, their language, thoughts, etc. They cuss a lot to "act big."

But they come to the chaplains when it gets to be foxhole time. Then they hear about Jesus.
