Now that the true Latin Mass is again available to all Catholics, why would anyone attend some other service?

Your condescension astounds.

The Novus Ordo is the normative Mass, and has been since 1969. The Indult is provided where the local bishop determines there is a demand.

I have to laugh at you guys who think there is some screaming chorus begging for the Tridentine Mass.

THERE IS NOT! Most Catholics, overwhelmingly, like the Novus Ordo and wouldn't attend a Latin Mass on a bet.

I am in favor of a generous Indult, but not a universal one, as the Novus Ordo should remain normative and not "optional."

This does not correspond to the actual data. Facts suggest that the vast majority of Catholics have voted with their feet and no longer attend Mass.

Remember that statistics for the US (approx 25% Mass attendance) are for the MOST religious country in the developed world. The numbers for Canada and Europe are very much lower, usually in the single digits.

Mass attendance since Vatican II has been like the NASDAQ: everytime you think it can't go any lower, it does. Even the countries with single-digit attendance rates are still dropping.

This doesn't sound to me like big vote of confidence for the Novus Ordo.

Actually, most Catholics, overwhelmingly, won't attend Mass at all. Is that sort of popular demand truly the right basis for resolving such a question?
