Gotta weigh in here.

I love the Tridentine, especially the High Mass. My kids like the N.O. and balk at going to the Tridentine. I've mentioned to quite a few church goers in my parish that there is a Tridentine Mass available (I say "Latin Mass" since not one of them would know the term "Tridentine") and not one of them has ever expressed any interest in going. My 61 year old aunt was excited to attend the Tridentine for novelty and memory of the Latin, but she expressed no interest in going again.

I think we are in the minority, Maximilian.

It depends on the age of your kids. My two oldest are basically living their own lives now, and we have a very hard time getting them to the Latin Mass. But my younger children, including 2 teenage daughters, LOVE going to the Latin Mass. They get sick at the thought of participating in the sacrilege which we only recently attended.

My children have commented independently about how much they have changed and how much our family has changed just in the last 2 years since we began attending the Latin Mass. They are living a life of grace, and they recognize it.

My oldest each went to 12 years of Catholic school and attended Mass every Sunday at a very "conservative" Novus Ordo church. They are patently living in sin, like 99% of all other Catholics. The grace was just never there.

I've had the same problem as you with older relatives. I thought they'd be thrilled to know that the Latin Mass is available again, but they've been less than enthused. The flip side of that, however, is that Latin Mass parishes are filled with young families and bursting with children. This is a wonderful hope for the future.

BTW, "Tridentine" is not really accurate anyway, so keep on calling it the "Latin Mass."
