The gospel is the death burial and resurrection of Christ, period. It is what saves you. The purpose of spreading the gospel is so more people will be saved, because salvation is the only thing in this world worth having. Serious answer:)

Actually, angelo, the Lord Jesus Himself declared that the preaching of the kingdom of God, i.e. the gospel, should be done as a witness to the gentiles.

• Matthew 24:14 [The Lord Jesus speaking] And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Let me speak to you that according to the oath the LORD spoke to the patriarch David concerning the fruit of his body, the Christ has been raised up to sit on the throne of David. God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ. Repent and believe this gospel of the kingdom of God.

An aside to Becky: If the gospel is only "the death burial and resurrection of Christ" then why does Jesus call the gospel the kingdom of God?
