Our acting Pastor read a letter from the Bishop at Mass yesterday concerning the whole "affair". The letter sounded more like CYA than anything else to me.
There was also a lot of preaching about forgiveness. The sermon was good but the faithful are constantly being asked to forgive these days.
I yearn for strong leadership from our clergy and most especially from the Bishops. I'm tired of legalese and want to hear some down home straight talking.

Personally, this doesn't affect my faith but it's very hard to explain to my teenage children that are already rebeling against the faith.

I continue to pray for our Priests and religious. There's a spiritual war going on......

The media is only interested in bashing the Catholic Church, not writing about the good things that are done!

I'm not a media lover, but when is reporting news "bashing". As far as them not reporting the good stuff....good stuff is what the church, any church, is suppose to do, so that would not be news. Alot of churches do good that is not reported. Alot of bad people in churches do bad things and are reported. It's news.

"CYA" is exactly the phrase Steve used. I want to know why Fr. Haley's faculties were suspended, if not as shooting the messenger. But he skipped over that.

I hope Fr Haley's faculties are restored asap.
I was at the Mass he said on 12 Sep and it was one of the most moving services I've ever been to.
Fr Haley was the most devout priest I've ever seen celebrate Mass - he became so emotional at the consecration - he truly made each Mass special and you felt as one with Our Lord.
