then Bishop Gregory is over due for a major paper roasting.I suspect he will never receive this. I believe he has been anointed by the kingmakers, or perhaps just by himself, and is working his way to bigger and better sees. I sometimes get the impression that the papers go out of their way to avoid bringing up any contradictions about the man, and strongly doubt they will roast him, at least in the short term. I may well judge him to harshly, I dont know, but I whenever I read of him I walk away with the firm impression of a man who tests the political winds long before making a moral stand. He makes these comments on the war after the bigs at the Vatican have spoken, and even then he makes these statements as head of the Bishops committee, seemingly only making these comments at the behest of other Bishops, giving him lots of wiggle room down the road, should the political winds change.
I would rather see someone who seemed more morally committed take one of the principle sees, and wonder if this can be fought. The last thing I think the Church needs is another seamless garment, Democrat coddling Bishop.
