The synod was held at Dordrecht, Holland. The name is abbreviated both as Dordt and Dort. The latter I believe is an Anglicized version of the Dutch. Both are acceptable and used in theological literature.

Having followed several of the 'Calvinism' threads in the past, it seems like the non-Dutch Calvinists hoild the Dutch Calvinists in low regard. Sort of like the old joke, 'You can tell a Dutchman, but you can't tell him much.'
