God will give grace to all those who are especially redeemed by Christ. As many has Christ has redeemed and purchased by his blood, shall be his for we hear him say, "The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." (John 10:11) Christ loved his church and gave himself for it. The chosen are spoken of in this manner: "These were redeemed from among men." Rev.14:4. And although the redemption of Christ has its universal aspect very plainly taught in God's Word yet there is a special redemption besides: "we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe" (1 Tim.4:10) That special redemption is of such a kind that all those that are concerned in it He will give grace. Not one member of that body that Christ has redeemed shall be maimed or destroyed. Christ will give each one of His His grace.
I heard once that Spurgeon considered WESLEY (of all people) one of the leading candidates to be an apostle if apostles were selected for Wesley's age. (The other candidate was.....Whitfield...of course.)
It's such a gracious statement. I don't know if it's true. Maybe DrJ knows. (Yo, SteveJ....?????)
