It has been an observation of mine that secular leftists and their agitator buddies within the Church generally don't consider the long-term implications of their short-term goals. Not only that, but when their hare-brained ideas don't work, they refuse to admit they were mistaken.
If someone, say, a very reactionary Catholic conservative, had predicted about 35 years ago or so that the post-Vatican II revolution would inevitably lead to the Jerry Springer School of sodomite liberal degeneracy overtaking the Church in America now, they would have been regarded as an extremist crank. I doubt anyone would have anticipated the bottom-feeding we see now. Msgr. Benson maybe.
