In the name of Jesus, I take authority and I bind all powers and forces in the air, in the ground, in the water, in the underground, in the netherworld, in nature and in fire.
You are the Lord over the entire universe and I give you the Glory for your creation. In your Name I bind all demonic forces that have come against us and our families and I seal all of us in the protection of your Precious Blood that was shed for us on the Cross.
Mary, our Mother, we seek your protection and intercession with the Sacred Heart of Jesus for us and our families, and surround us with your mantle of love to discourage the enemy.
St. Michael and our Guardian Angels come defend us and our families in battle against all the evil ones that roam the earth.
In the Name of Jesus I bind and command all the powers and forces of evil to depart right now away from us, our homes, and our lands. And we thank you Lord Jesus for You are a faithful and compassionate God. Amen
You are the Lord over the entire universe and I give you the Glory for your creation.
That's real white of you to do this for Him. I'm sure He's grateful.
IMHO we laypeople should stick to the St. Michael prayer. I think because we should pray not as our individual selves as in "I bind the devil." We should pray with the entire people of God for St. Michael to do it through the power of God. Just my two cents.
Pardon me I am not making myself clear. I did not mean to say that your prayer that you posted is part of another exorcism prayer. It's not. It's just that your post put me in mind of what I heard on EWTN. And what I got out of it was just be careful with exorcism types of prayer. The St. Michael prayer is safe for us to say according to Ratzinger. The taking authority prayer you posted is IMHO kind of different in that you personally are binding the devil. But if you notice the St. Michael prayer is more a prayer of the Church as in defend US in battle. In other words, there is safety in numbers.
And I guess I kind of got the creeps when the program said we should be careful not to stir the devil up with exorcism prayers and mentioned no other safe prayer but the St. Michael one. If you have been saying the taking authority prayer for years then who am I to tell you not to? It seems to be a good practice for you. I just was sharing what I heard because your post made me think of it.
Just because I think it is interesting I will tell you that My great uncle was a priest and he always said just don't even think about the devil because that old saw, "Think of the devil and up he pops." is true. And I was on a Catholic list discussion group with a man in Rome who assisted at exorcisms. When we would talk about exorcisms and things he would try to get us to stop talking about it. He never really said why, but he was clear that it was better not to talk about it.
I see your point too.
Peace
