In Hebrew the policemen are called 'shomreem'. In ancient times, the guards were also called shomreem. This word comes from 'shomair' which means "to keep". It's a very important word in the Bible. The Lord is called 'Shomair Yisrael', the Keeper of Israel. But the word shomreem is not just for the Lord. It says in God's Word..."You will be blessed if you shomair...keep the covenant." Keep the command, keep My way, keep My Word, keep My Torah...KEEPIt's important to keep. It is written we have this treasure in earthen vessels. It is not enough to have a treasure. A treasure must be watched, and treasured, and kept. If you want a life that is precious you must keep all these things in your heart. Become a keeper. Keep His Word in your mind. Keep His love in your heart. Keep His wonders in your testimony, His presence in your Spirit. Be a keeper of what must be kept...for what God has given you is for keeps.
2 Timothy 4:7
TODAY'S MISSION
Today choose a Bible verse that holds special meaning for you. Keep it close to your heart and apply it to all the situations you encounter today. Thank God for His Word and the difference it has made for your life.
Whenever I ponder this verse I have to remind myself that it relates only to matters of God and not my golf game. Have a blessed weekend and we'll see you here, there or in the AIR!
