Announcing the Catholic Freeper Locator List
June 14, 2002 | Romulus

Posted on 06/14/2002 8:24:23 AM PDT by Romulus

Yesterday's thread on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Summer Plenary Session. turned up a lot of Catholic FReepers suggesting that it's time for the faithful laity to get more visible and active in pressing for a restoration of right order in the Church. To that end, I've decided to develop and maintain a list of Catholic FReepers, sorted by state, as a resource for future activism. Some of us will wish to collaborate on future projects; others may simply find the list handy for purposes of fellowship. If you want to be on this list, please post your state (or overseas country) on this thread. I'll collate whatever comes in, and Askel5 will post the results on the ConSpiratio web site.

In posting your FR handle and location, you're not volunteering for anything except the chance of being contacted in the future. Whatever activism you then undertake is entirely up to you. For the record, I have no specific plan for this list, nor am I aware of anyone else's. It seems like something that needs to be done, however, and I'll wager the very existence of a good list will generate fruitful ideas.

If you prefer not to post your location, please bump the thread anyway. Thanks!

Diocese of Arlington, VA. However, from time to time Mrs. COBOL2Java and I have been known to row across the Potomac to attend Mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and have found a Tridentine Mass at St. Mary, Mother of God church in the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. :-)

I also am a Lay Carmelite (T.O.C.) and we have our meetings at Whitefriars Hall, again, in the Archdiocese of Washington.

Remind me to ask you about going from soloist to scola sometime. I'm okay with the Symphony Chorus, but then all those voices are big. It's the little groups where blending in is not easy.

COBOL2Java, I too have discovered the TLM at St. Mary's in DC. We have no TLM in the entire diocese of Wheeling-Charleston so I go to DC a few times a year for Mass. By the way, I am an aspirant to the Secular Discalced Carmelites.

Your church was wreckovated. I have no idea if the churches here in my area were ever anything other than they are now. Sunken floor in the center with a table for an altar. Chairs ringed around in a circle. The Tabernacle put away in a side closet... errrr... "chapel" with one, yes, ONE kneeler. The only kneeler in the building. This "chapel" also houses the only crucifix. Over the altar is an empty cross.

Sad really.

Aren't you just making easier for them to find you when the persecutions start? ;-)

"Them"? I refer you to last Sunday's epistle: For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood.

Regards.

Would you mind explaining that? I'm not sure what you want me to "get" out of your response.
