Yesterday's thread on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Summer Plenary Session. turned up a lot of Catholic FReepers suggesting that it's time for the faithful laity to get more visible and active in pressing for a restoration of right order in the Church. To that end, I've decided to develop and maintain a list of Catholic FReepers, sorted by state, as a resource for future activism. Some of us will wish to collaborate on future projects; others may simply find the list handy for purposes of fellowship. If you want to be on this list, please post your state (or overseas country) on this thread. I'll collate whatever comes in, and Askel5 will post the results on the ConSpiratio web site.
In posting your FR handle and location, you're not volunteering for anything except the chance of being contacted in the future. Whatever activism you then undertake is entirely up to you. For the record, I have no specific plan for this list, nor am I aware of anyone else's. It seems like something that needs to be done, however, and I'll wager the very existence of a good list will generate fruitful ideas.
If you prefer not to post your location, please bump the thread anyway. Thanks!
Benedicamus Domino!

Was your bishop referring to ours, Howard Hubbard? If you are a "modernist" and draw spiritual inspiration from the contemporary view that girls should serve at the altar, support the notion of female ordination, enjoy sitting through the consecration of the eucharist, prefer liturgical banners to statues, find solace in a bare cross and support the notion of a homosexual priesthood, then you would feel right at home in the Albany diocese.
If your views tend more to the traditional ones of eucharistic adoration, kneeling during the consecration, reflection on the crucified Christ, etc. then you would be hard pressed to find a parish community that "fits".
Bishop Hubbard is well loved by many who have no one with whom to compare him. He lives a simple life - none of those perks like personal drivers or fancy suits. He is being investigated by www.rcf.org and was confronted by victims in Dallas who are well aware of his policies that do not support zero tolerance.
Lucky you!! The Vatican considers your diocese to be one of the best in the US. Fr. Gould has done an outstanding job as Director of Vocations .. and co host with R. Arroyo for the USCCB conference.
Picky? Naw! Try to find the tabernacle .. or the crucifix, or the kneelers ... in this church ..... another Fr. "Dick" Vosko original.
I am in Minneapolis, diocese of Mpls/St. Paul, headed up by our chief fundraiser Harry Flynn.

I guess it is pretty easy to believe he would do that, but I am surprised at his restraint from putting a small statue of Buddha in front of the ambo.

Other individuals keep lists of screen names that they bump to certain articles. If people would like on or off mine, they can let me know.

I can't see any of those things - what I do see is an effing LABYRINTH!
Neo-pagan superstition built into the House of God??? I wouldn't DARE to put a tabernacle in the same room with that - unless I wanted to collect the fire insurance.
