US Cardinal soon to be outed as homosexual...Which one?
O'Reilly, NY Post, The Diocese Report, others... ^

On Fox tonight O'Reilly said a cardinal is about to be outed as an active homosexual. Rumor has it Bishop Bruskiwiecz sent a letter telling this Cardinal to "resign, or else..."
NY POST: WHICH American cardinal recently disclosed to insiders a confidential letter he received from a bishop urging the cardinal to resign for the good of the church? The cardinal is being urged to quit before his much-gossiped-about homosexual indiscretions are uncovered by the media . . . WHICH ranking priest of a major diocese predicted over a boozy dinner the other night that if the media outs this particular cardinal, "then the dominoes will really start to fall"?

How about taking the ad hominem exchange offthread into FReepmail, OK.
To: Polycarp
Pretty good guess. My informant who is usually right tells me exactly the same story. Something about a 'nephew.'

Bishop Bruskewitz likes the Old Rite but does NOT require it of his priests. B. is building his OWN seminary, not the FSSP--although he allowed them to build one in Lincoln, as well.
You ought to ask your friend at the Dallas Sem how come izzit Rome allowed a backwater like Lincoln to build its own seminary---then you might get a more thoughtful response.

You will note eventually that all of Sinkspur's comments are from an individual who is
mostlyCatholic--but has a VERY hard time being orthodox.
None of his good buddies at the Dallas seminary can explain why B. has his own seminary in lower noplace: Lincoln.
I can, as can you.
By the way, the Pope has to approve a new seminary. Get the hint??

Enemies? No, I've made quite a few new friends.
Should I be concerned? You're not threatening me now,
are you? (hehehe)Your concern is really touching.
Now, don't worry your little ole head over me, eh!

By contrast, OUR diocese is graduating only ONE seminarian this yearAnd that ONE is over 60 years old. The ONLY ordinand in 1999 was tossed out of the priest business a week ago. Seems he had a problem and is being investigated by the Commission downtown.
In contrast, the Bishop of Fargo ordained 50 over the last few years.
FIFTY IN FARGO!?!?!?!?

Worry about those who rob us not of our guns and possessions but of our only eternal treasure, the immortal souls of our innocent children.Could not have been said any better!!!

Uhm....an organization filled with homophobes turns out to be run by homos. You know, your response made me think for a second.
The LAST powerful organization which persecuted homosexuals and was run by homos was the Nazi Party.
Good thing the Church does not persecute homosexuals.

Well, the Church hierarchy doesn't seem to. The laity,
as evidenced by those on FR, is another matter entirely.
The disconnect is startling.

First off, I have a few friends in LA who are reasonably well-placed, both civically and in the Church. I have never asked them directly about Mahony. Frankly, I don't care.
Also please note that my answer was in response to the NYPost's teaser--and the Cardinal in question seems to be on the East Coast.
However, if Mahony is also a bad guy, sorry to hear it, but perhaps it's best to take them all out at once.
Wouldn't in the LEAST surprise me to learn that there are a few in Rome. Only hope that they are not pederasts...

I don't have anything positive to say about liberal prelates either. LOL! That's what I like about you -- you're fair-minded and even-handed!
