Cochini quotes Bishop Epigonius (see page 5) and Bishop Himerius (see page 9) and Pope Siricius (see page 11); and in each instance these quotes speak of 'purity' through continence. All I can glean from this is that 'conjugal relations' in some way defiles the minister(taken in context of their writings). Siricius also quotes, out of context, St. Paul in 1 Cor 7:5. Taken in context from 7:1 to 7:9 one gets a different understanding of Paul.
Also see Cochini, page 429 in his general conclusion. Again he speaks of sexual impurities as an impediment to the ministry, even within the framework of a legitimate marriage.
