Psalm 119 (120)
To the Lord in the hour of my distress
I call and He answers me.
"O Lord, save my soul from lying lips,
from the tongue of the deceitful."What shall He pay you in return,
O treacherous tongue?
The warrior's arrow sharpened
and coals, red-hot, blazing.Alas, that I abide a stranger in Meshech,
dwell among the tents of Kedar!Long enough have I been dwelling
with those who hate peace.
I am for peace, but when I speak,
they are for fighting.
1 Peter 3:15-17
Beloved:
Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts.
Always be ready to give an explanation
to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope,
but do it with gentleness and reverence,
keeping your conscience clear,
so that, when you are maligned,
those who defame your good conduct in Christ
may themselves be put to shame.
For it is better to suffer for doing good,
if that be the will of God, than for doing evil.
1 Corinthians 13:1-8, 13
If I have all the eloquence of men or of angels,
but speak without love,
I am simply a gong booming
or a cymbal clashing.
If I have the gift of prophecy,
understanding all the mysteries there are,
and knowing everything,
and if I have faith in all its fullness,
to move mountains,
but without love,
them I am nothing at all.
If I give away all that I possess, piece by piece,
and if I even let them take my body to burn it,
but am without love,
it will do me no good whatever.Love is always patient and kind;
it is never jealous;
love is never boastful or conceited;
it is never rude or selfish;
it does not take offense,
and is not resentful.
Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins
but delights in the truth;
it is always ready to excuse,
to trust, to hope,
and to endure whatever comes.Love does not come to an end. ...
In short, there are three things that last:
faith, hope, and love;
and the greatest of these is love.
For the Lord's Cleansing, Defense, and Governance of the Church
May your continual pity, O Lord, cleanse and defend Your Church;
and, because without you she cannot endure in safety,
may she ever be governed by Your bounty.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, world without end. Amen.

1 Peter 3:15-17God bless all my brothers and sisters in Christ, that they may share the hope in God's saving grace; God bless all my brothers and sisters who do not believe, that they may be touched by the Holy Spirit and believe.Beloved:

Simply, it is delusional to think that the Catholic Church teaches a false gospel.
St.CHUCK: If you have followed my posts elsewhere on FR, you know it is true that as a student of the Reformation I believe that the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church on the gospel is entirely incompatible with historic Protestantism. The Council of Trent clearly acknowledges this, the Reformers acknowledged this. Modern discussion has blurred the issues. Both cannot be right.
I would expect someone who holds the official RC beliefs to consider my views contrary to their understanding of the gospel and to consider me to be in spiritual peril. That does not offend me. I wasn't offended that you consider me a delusional soul. I just did not see any basis for that conclusion on this thread nor have you stated the basis for your conclusion.
BOTH: My post of the verses was not an attack on RC theology. I think the verses fit the thread's stated topic: Encouragement for Apologists -- don't compromise the gospel. If this response causes you to want to withdraw the apology, I won't be offended. Your responses [#13, #14] were kind indeed. Thanks.
Freep mail me if any further clarifications are needed.
