I wanted to ask for your prayers.
I am going to have surgery on Wednesday May 8th to remove a tumor that is wrapped around my lower spine. The surgery promises to be very long. I've had chemo which has shrunk the tumor considerably. What I need now is for Jesus to guide the surgeon's hands.
Please also say a prayer for my wife and family. Christ bless you all.

Bless you, sandyeggo. My father remains in ICU and is doing extremely well. The nurse who is caring for him this morning is named "Mary Madeleine O'Hara" -- and I knew that was God's little message to all of us that Da is in good hands.
Early this morning my mother, sisters, and I met with one of my father's doctors who gave us the good news that the vertebrae and disks had not been inflitrated by the tumor. They put things back in alignment, and they are hopeful that Da will be able to walk in the long run. We are very, very grateful.

Your father has been an inspiration to many of us here on FR. The Lord does move in mysterious ways, and I am humbly grateful that all went well in surgery. Looking for a speedy recovery so that he can get busy at the keyboard again. Peace to the family.

Thank you very much for your kindness. God bless you.
The evening report is that my father has good vital signs, and the nurse for the evening is named "Rita" a very lovely lady who prayed with my mother when she went in to see him this afternoon. I feel I'm having m eyes opened to how powerful and important the apostolate of the laity is. When I heard about Nurse Rita praying with my mother, I couldn't hold back the tears. Time and again we have encountered the Church very much alive here in this hospital.
God's good people are everywhere I've come to believe.

My father had a good day today. He was awake long enough to understand from the doctor that everything was successful.
There was a funny moment when the doctor was trying to see how aware my father was. The doc asked him who the President was, and Da said, "Long as its not Clinton I'm happy." Everyone had a good laugh.
Because he's still in enormous pain, he is under very heavy sedation to give his body a better opportunity to mend.
God bless you all for your prayers and your kind words about my father. My mother wanted me to thank all of you for your prayers for Da and our family. It is wonderful to experience the communion of saints right here.

Thanks for the update. A lot of us have been in your shoes. I certainly know I have. Since you now know how popular and respected your father is on this forum, I hope you'll be sure to let him know how proud of him you are.
God bless.
