Very well said. Also there would have been airplanes not tanks. No medicines, no women and children warned to leave the area. How dangerous is it for the Israelis to go in searching booby-trapped areas for the terrorists instead of throwing in grenades?

It's the church of the Nativity. The Israeli's would be committing the worst kind of propaganda error if they were to bulldoze the church like they did dwellings in Jenin. They can't afford to use the same tactics. Not because they care about the innocents but because it would look bad. They had no such concerns in Jenin or Ramallah.
