The point is, they are Arabs. If their plight is so important, maybe one of their fellow Islamic countries should give them a place to settle, with plenty of space away from Israel to prevent further conflict. If Sharon does agree to give back the land they took in 67, it should be given to Jordan, and then let Jordan decide whether they want to give it to the so called Palestinians.

A message to those on both sides of this issue:
Understanding why somebody does something
and thinking they are somehow justified in doing it are 2 entirely different things.

People on this board as well as du blithely overlook this.

Drop the justifications and retoric from both sides and what is left is this:
Why is Isreal doing what it is doing?
Suicide bombers.
Why are there suicide bombers?
Because of what Isreal is doing.


Right or wrong, justified or not,
what happened in Jenin is going to result in more people hating Israel enough to strap on a bomb.
This is not a matter of opinion, it's cause and effect.

If the goal is to reduce terrorism (elimination is categorically impossible, regardless of what GWB says), how can creating more people who are whacked enough to become one with a bomb be considered in your best interest?
It's pure folly.

I don't see any obvious solutions to the P/I conflict, but I think it is obvious that what Sharon is doing/has done is only going to make things worse.

Terror 'not eradicated'

The Israeli army said three attackers dressed in what appeared to be army uniforms entered Adora and started going house to house, entering two of them and shooting through the windows of others.

One of those killed was a woman lying in bed - her husband was injured in the attack.

A five-year-old girl was also killed while hiding under her bed.

Just about male in Israel is either in the military or reserves. The country is so small, that they have to be able to mobilize on a moment's notice, so pretty much every home has a battle rifle or SMG. It's not unusual to see cute girls armed w/ SMGs on the streets! I sort of like the idea!

You missed the point. It has nothing to do with "kumaya" "let's all make love" or whatever. It's called enlightened self interest. Look at what you are doing and the what the ramifications are going to be. Not what what you think they should be, but what they will be. Like a hydra. If you cut off one head and 2 more come back in it's place. Getting angry and cutting off heads isn't going to help you, it's going to make things worse.

I see a good solution to this whole mess. Israel should pound the palestinians into submission. When the PLO loses the will to fight, then the war is over. Whiney liberal philosophy is not going to solve this war.
