A message to those on both sides of this issue:
Understanding why somebody does something
and thinking they are somehow justified in doing it are 2 entirely different things.

People on this board as well as du blithely overlook this.

Drop the justifications and retoric from both sides and what is left is this:
Why is Isreal doing what it is doing?
Suicide bombers.
Why are there suicide bombers?
Because of what Isreal is doing.


Right or wrong, justified or not,
what happened in Jenin is going to result in more people hating Israel enough to strap on a bomb.
This is not a matter of opinion, it's cause and effect.

If the goal is to reduce terrorism (elimination is categorically impossible, regardless of what GWB says), how can creating more people who are whacked enough to become one with a bomb be considered in your best interest?
It's pure folly.

I don't see any obvious solutions to the P/I conflict, but I think it is obvious that what Sharon is doing/has done is only going to make things worse.
