I try to use the same method myself. Sometimes it takes me a lot of effort to do that, but in the long run its worth it. Plus you get to learn some history, which is always fun.

I am a factoid person..I love little cultural tid bits that make scripture come alive...I recently learned something I should have known years ago . What the OT meant when it said that he " touched "his thigh...A small cultural understanding with an interesing translation ..but it shows how deep and important is the honor of posterity..Little things like that make the word of God live..
