Seek those things that produce the loving nature of Jesus in our lives. I would rather have the wrong facts and a right attitude, than right facts and a wrong attitude. But isn't it sweet grace when God gives you both the right facts and a right attitude? Ah, yes, sweet sovereign grace.

So bad is the church situation around here and so hungry were we for the Word that we attended a Calvary Chapel for awhile. Pastor taught some good stuff, but he had this bugaboo for the Biblical doctrines of sovereign grace, and authority. Some good fish, too many bones. Had to bail.
And this "{Blink blink} I don't want to get into doctrine" stance -- ay yi yi.

First read through, first impression, CC is trying to walk a fine line. Trying to satisfy both camps.

Chuck Smith really nails down the truth here. He mentions the necessity of being true to the Bible whether it's understandable to us at the moment in terms of our doctrinal constructs.
Even on eternal security he has recognized the truth that the Bible teaches.
He is totally sold out to the bible and for that he has my undying respect. He teaches more truth in one sermon/bible study than any other in all of today's Christendom.
I don't especially like the way he phrased "total depravity" above, and I'd probably make some changes in "election," but I'm POSITIVE that I'm dealing here with an honest, sincere Christian.
The greatest of these is LOVE. A new command I give you. As I have loved you, so you must love each other.
Praise God of Calvary Chapel and Chuck Smith. (And I'm not pre-tribulation rapture as he is.)

Rnnie, I believe pretty much as Smith writes above. What more can I add to it that will convince you? Nothing really.
LURKER ALERT! Simply read the above article and you will see the words of a man who believes how Christians treat one another says something about how much we should want to be like them.
Some people don't mind hurting each other. They should repent. Some don't mind hurting fellow Christians....they should doubly repent. If another's theology has turned them into an attack animal bent on rending the flesh and heart of those who oppose their ideology, then you should ask if it's their theology that makes them that way or their personal weaknesses. In either case, it doesn't make their theology more appealing, does it?
The Bible says that the greatest of these is love.

My comments, as any perceptive reader knows, was an opinion. You voiced yours as well. I don't agree with you.
For those who'd like to know for themselves get yourself hooked up to "realplayer" if you're not already and then go listen to any book in the bible at this location (Once you get to the site, click on "Sermons"):

Decide for yourself how shallow or deep the man is. I recommend starting with the book of Romans

so run along and love um to hell xzins Rn, you know me. We're friends to the extent that any can become such online. You KNOW that's not my intention.
You KNOW my intention is to love them into heaven. When they see our unity and love for each other, then they'll know that the Father truly did send Jesus, the Son.

You know that there are some in your number that prtend that truth is universal and they abide strong delusion..and you stand silent...to that extent you then carry part of their guilt

But most importantly, Calvary Chapel has been known for striking a balance between extremes on controversial theological issues that have often caused division rather than unity in the body of Christ. LOL! I guess you can't compromise on everything.
Without exception, Calvary Chapels have taken a strong stand for a pre-tribulational and pre-millennial view of the second coming of Jesus Christ.

I would rather have the wrong facts and a right attitude, than right facts and a wrong attitude. Boy if that not a ticket to trouble I don't know what is. As long as everyone is happy, it doesn't matter what is preached.
