Catholic Caucus: Patron

The Catholic Caucus of Freepers are in need of our own patron saint. We seem to be quickly developing into something of an apostolate of our own. So I think we should take time to post our ideas about who our patron saint(s) should be for our work here on FreeRepublic.

if the Catholics have a thread which is promoting what i see as a sin, i have a responsibility to enter the thread and show the truth to those who will listen. similarly, if somebody started a thread that pushed abortion, many of us would be angry, and posting counter-arguments.

You didn't address the sin in relation to the topic. To which of the multi-thousand divisions of the Body of Christ do you subscribe to?

i usually quote the entire section (verses 8-10),

Of course you do.

it is important because it shows that just because salvation is by faith alone

You are still missing the point. If you want to discuss doctrinal differences, please post to the appropriate threads. This is a thread welcoming new members into the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. But I urge you to continue to read and study your pet passage. Hopefully you will grasp the true meaning of what is being said. If you do, this time next year we can have a thread welcoming you home also.

Peace

Whoops, wrong thread. This is a thread discussing a Patron Saint for Catholic Freepers. But my point is still valid.

In other words, your own subjective interpretation of Scripture is the only valid one since you are led by the Holy Spirit in that interpretation. That means that any Christian who disagrees with your inspired interpretation is in error. If you don't believe in denominations, who do you worship with? The Scriptures encourage corporate worship, not lone Christian maverickism. I'm sure your intentions are sincere, so I'll leave it for now. I have to go partake of the Body of Christ.

He apperently has a new non-denominational denomination of one.

I have just realized something. If I am remembering correctly from a past anti-Catholic thread that pro-life authored, pro-life admitted to being a fallen away Catholic who is now attending a fundamentalist church. Perhaps his or her attraction to the Catholic threads is really a cry for help and a desire to return home.

pro-life, the soul is a magnet for the Truth regardless of whether your mind and ego are able to comprehend it now. You may benefit from reading some of Dr. Scott Hahn's books. He was a Protestant minister who battled Catholics on a regular basis. The Lord touched his heart and mind and he converted to Catholicism. He has since written many books and he may be able to answer some of your questions from the Protestant mindset. I have not personally read his books but others here may be able to make specific recommendations for you. The Catholic bashing you engage in has not been in vain. Many have testified here that due to your work and those like you they have returned or converted to Catholicism. It seems even now that applies to you too.

The use of the abuse button is something Catholics are tempted to use when the Church is defamed or a blasphemy is printed. Reviewing this thread I believe that the evidence of such an evil activity needs to be left for all to see.

We all need to keep a list of the names of these individuals and pray for them to receive the Truth and be brought into or back into the Holy Catholic Church. We need to see every assault as a desperate cry for help. And with our prayers I am certain that the Divine Mercy of Christ will be poured out on these souls.

The FReeper called "pro-life" is clearly right on one issue i.e., "Life" -- so where God has worked part of the truth in this FReepers life, let us pray fervently for the whole Truth of Christ and His beautiful Church be opened to this soul.

We also have prayers and litanies of reparation to pray in response to such blasphemies and offenses against Christ and His Holy Church. We need to take note that this person "pro-life" posts attacks on us with impunity. I believe this thread is ample evidence now of violation of the posting standards on FreeRepublic, and I can only hope that this individual will not continue to enjoy the privileges of being a FReeper when this person flaunts those rules in order to post taunts at Roman Catholics.

We also have prayers and litanies of reparation to pray in response to such blasphemies and offenses against Christ and His Holy Church.

May I be so bold as to offer a few suggestions?:

Prayer of reparation for blasphemy against the Name of God:

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible, and ineffable Name of God, be ever praised, blessed, loved, adored, and glorified, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Most Sacred Heart of our Lord, Jesus Christ, in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.

Fatima Prayer:

Oh, Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we adore you profoundly! We offer you the most precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for all the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I beg the conversion of poor sinners. Amen.

The Divine Praises:

Blessed be God.
Blessed be His Holy Name.
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.
Blessed be the Name of Jesus.
Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be His Most Precious Blood.
Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete.
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most Holy.
Blessed be her Holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be her Glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the Name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.
Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse.
Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints.

Look, "pro-life", you're lost. I know it. We all know you're lost. Some want your poor behavior saved for posterity, and others like me think it ought to go in the cyber-trash. You may think you are on some mission for God -- but the Blues Brothers had a better claim to legitimacy than you.

Askel5 and the good Father think we shouldn't hit the abuse button, so I will take their fine counsel and refrain from doing so in the future.

So you've got an old Marine, armed with a Rosary, praying for you, pro-life. You better watch out.

On a different note, I imagine you have heard that there have been great anti-Israeli riots throughout the Muslim world. We hear that the Sudanese Muslims are recruiting the next wave of terrorists. We are praying against these efforts by the power of the Precious Blood of the Lamb of God. Thank you for remembering Sudanese Catholics and other Sudanese Christians in your prayers. The Sudanese Islamic government must be stopped.

I believe a very compelling case can be made that the US and the UK should invade the Sudan rather than Iraq. The Sudanese Islamic government is nothing but al-Qaeda under a differing name. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the downfall of workers of terror. God bless you.

Steady there, Marine. Rosary -- good choice of weapon. Also, why don't you say the Novena to the Holy Spirit. God bless!

Yes Father, I will pray.

If I may, there is another area that has been bothering me of late and probably other Christians. It is the situation in the Church of the Nativity. The Jews and the Muslims are fighting it out in the very birthplace of Jesus Christ with our Franciscan friars held hostage. I can't put into words how it makes me feel or even what I think of it. Irony mixed with horror and an impending sense of something is the best way I can describe it. Do you have any words or thoughts on this situation?

The captivity of the Church of the Holy Nativity is a sign to us. It should pull on our hearts and call us to our knees in prayer.

Now is the time for all of us to offer our hearts to Christ Jesus -- to be born within us in a fresh and powerful way.

There are communitites of Christians in Bethlehem who need our prayers -- the Franciscans, other Catholics, the Melkite Catholics, the Eastern Orthodox, the Armenian Apostolic Christians, the Syrian Orthodox. There are also other Christian groups like the Episcopalians/Anglicans. They need our prayers. When on March 14th the Israeli weapons fire struck the statue of the Mother of God, we knew that the Holy Sites would be in danger. If the Church of the Holy Nativity is destroyed, it will be rebuilt.

Through the intercession of St. Francis and St. Clare and of all the saints on earth and in heaven, may peace come to Bethlehem and throughout the Holy Land.

Regarding the Franciscan and other clergy hostages in Bethlehem:
I should have written this first: Ask for the intercession of St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe on behalf of the hostage priests and brothers. I would also ask St. Edith Stein for her intercession for them.

Our community has Perpetual Adoration, but in addition we keep vigil for Christians in the Sudan. We received an e-mail from the Franciscans in Rome, and now we are keeping vigil before the Blessed Sacrament for the hostages, for all Christians, and for the Holy Sites in the Holy Land.
