A Y2K purchase?

No. About 15 years ago I was building (paying for it) an addition to my house and bought one which is mounted on wheels. It can run the fridge, tv, some lights and a heater or air conditioner. That is enough for me. It has probably had 10 hours of use in the last 10 years. (I start it once a year "just in case").

Actually I have had a few power outages in the last few years. During the first one I went out to the shed with my flashlight, put gas in the generator, and started it. By the time I had strung a few cords into the house the electricity came back on.

The last outage I had occurred about 11PM so I just went to bed early. When I got up it was back on again.

We have a generator too. It was given to us about 10 years ago. We use it to keep the freezer and refrigerator working during power outages. I'd like to get a bigger one though so that we could either have lights or radio for getting the latest info on when the power may be back. Sometimes, that is the worst, not knowing, because you don't have access to a source.

Generators are a nice thing to have.
