Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
Well, that's gotta be tough. Didn't you have Dom Capers? He was an excellent defensive coach for us.

It might be that Shanahan is thinking Plummer is mobile enough to overcome growing pains in the system.
They'd better get with it. If I remember right both houses of congress overwhelmingly voted for the ban and Clinton wouldn't sign it. If that's the case what, with our "christian" president, is the holdup?
You probably think 2 tim 3:16 is about sola scriptura as well. The text simply does not hold up to the claim made by Protestants about these texts. They really, really, really want it to, and they teach each other that it does.
But in the cold hard light of day, it does not.
"Eternal life" is an adjective and a noun. The adjective is "eternal" and it modifies the noun "life."
It is the life that is eternal, not our possession of it. IF the Protestant, OSAS view were true, the Bible would say "whoever believes on me will eternally have life."
But it doesn't. In this case "eternally" is an adverb, modifying the verb "have." That is what you guys all read here. But it is, sadly, mistaken.
You can have "eternal life" and then not have it. Just like you can have an "everlasting gobstopper" and then lose it. Adjective describe nouns, not verbs.

I'm contemplating drafting Stephen Davis in my fantasy league this year.
That's more important than 1.5 million killed here at home every year?
You continue with the distraction. The definition of eternal has nothing to do with it. It is the definition of "belief."
***Is it a one time articulation of an intellectual acceptance, or is it that accompanied by the working out of the faith that Paul desrcibed?***
It is a point in time embracing of the gospel
Sorry. You can believe this if you want, but I won't. It's not just one point in time. If Paul had to work out his faith, then so do I.

You know darn well that Congress can barely focus on one thing at a time. I share your sense of urgency, but I don't think Bush or certain other leaders do. Bush doesn't like to make waves, so he'll probably try to orchestrate it so he signs it this summer, when Congress goes to recess in August and no body is paying much attention.

What am I missing? You don't think this is a reference to Christ? Not evidence that He was around when the Father wrote Scripture (whatever the heck THAT is supposed to mean)?
I think that's the first time I've heard someone say it's not likely that life insurance benefits would be needed by the beneficiary(s) after the sure death of the policy holder.
Are you really this dense?
If a 30 year old buys a 20 year term life policy, and if the actuarial data shows that 96% of 30 year olds will live to at least 50, then there is only a 4% probability that the policy will be "needed". I think it is safe to say that a 4% probability is "small".
While this is an absolute Biblical Truth that if we do repent of our sins and ask Jesus into our life, we will be saved and go to heaven, I think Christianity has misunderstood the depth of the meaning of what Jesus was speaking about when he talked of "everlasting life" or "eternal life". The Greek word which is translated as everlasting life in the King James Bible is the Greek word, "Zoe". It means "abundant life" or "the highest plateau of life". "Zoe" is used in the NT whenever "eternal life" is mentioned.
