Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
There was a pan-handler on the corner. She looked about my age and did not appear to have missed any meals. Of course the light turns red and I'm right there by her. I'm thinking, if these two had just left me alone, this would not be a problem. Look at her. I don't see any reason why she can't work. I know she is going to make a fool of me. Then ok, fine. I yell, "hey". She looked startled but came over. I gave her a dollar and said "here" and rolled the window up.
Are you sure she was looking for a handout ?
BTW, what scripture are you talking about ?
If not, please explain your point. (How do people misinterpret those verses?)
Joking?
I thought it was "take literally", not "misinterpret"
Patently untrue.
You are welcome to your opinion.
You miss my point. By raising the question of whether or not the United States is the Babylon of Revelation, you are implicitly suggesting that this is an evil country. Is this truly your position?
That isn't necessarily true. This country has a lot to answer for (being the greatest in the world does not make you "good" if you are in(of) the world. But it doesn't even need to be that. It could merely be that we will become the Babylon of Reveation.
Maybe so, but it wasn't Roy's fault that his teammates gave the Wild a power play with five minutes left in overtime.
First of all gave them the power play with 5 minutes left in regulation and then they tied the score. Secondly, I'm not trying to sound like sour grapes and don't think I am because you brought it up, that call was bogus.
We basically have "code books" (for lack of a better word) for how we write letters or e-mail so that "God" or "prayers" or "disciple" doesn't pop up in a government-read piece that gets someone kicked out of the country or killed.
We are then, it will be seen, very far from attributing to the Mother of God a productive power of grace - a power which belongs to God alone. Yet, since Mary carries it over all in holiness and union with Jesus Christ, and has been associated by Jesus Christ in the work of redemption, she merits for us de congruo, in the language of theologians, what Jesus Christ merits for us de condigno, and she is the supreme Minister of the distribution of graces. Jesus "sitteth on the right hand of the majesty on high" (Hebrews i. b.). Mary sitteth at the right hand of her Son - a refuge so secure and a help so trusty against all dangers that we have nothing to fear or to despair of under her guidance, her patronage, her protection...
Those, alas! furnish us by their conduct with a peremptory proof of it, who seduced by the wiles of the demon or deceived by false doctrines think they can do without the help of the Virgin... Notice there is a bible reference for Jesus seat but not one for Mary's. Hmmmmm

I understand your concern.
I could be crass and say it doesn't affect my salvation.( but that would violate rule 2 & 3)
Matthew 22:36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?
Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: `Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind. [Deut. 6:5]
Matthew 22:38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like it: `Love your neighbour as yourself. [Lev. 19:18]
Matthew 22:40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them
in [Or into; see Acts 8:16; 19:5; Rom. 6:3; 1 Cor. 1:13; 10:2
and Gal. 3:27.] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Matthew 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
I have been asked to
1) Love G-d
2) Love my fellow man including my enemies
3) Preach the Word.
Okay, but not everyone in every place and time knows this. What happens to them?
Romans 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed
to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Romans 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he
also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
I'm not sure.
