Again,I find myself agreeing with you on the separation of Church and State issue. My problem is: I don't know how that became the "subject" of the thread. I have tried to get through Wesley's sermon 3 times now... and it's just not "readable" (tonight)...maybe tomorrow?

The church/state issue was my 'fault'. I brought it up because Wesley mentions the destruction done in religious wars. The only way to avoid them is not to give the State the power to force religion on anyone.

I did not mean to distract from the central theme of the sermon which is unity in the church through love (even though we may disagree on many issues).

Seems that Wesley had a limited view of the world. He was no doublt unaware that far more distruction was done by the secular world. The Real Murderers: Atheism or Christianity?

Sorry for the late reply. I attempted to get through "Sermon #75" one more time... it can't be done (by me). Thank you for answering the question of the "topic change." I'm afraid I can't comment on the original intent for the reason cited.
