Weaver notes that specialization develops part of a man, and a man partly developed is, in a philosophical sense.. deformed. Thus, one who is philosophically deformed is the last person to whom one should look for knowledge of basic principles, or for enlightenment about solving the problems of human societies.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated... here.

[Weaver, specialization, snip]

Evolution is not the Grand Unification Theory. It's a model based on observations of life past and present which attempts to explain and describe those observations. Evolution is also a conceptual tool used to provide a framework within which to place and understand future observations. The "Tree of Life" diagrams are a Periodic Table of Critters.

The mechanisms evolution describes are those which have been observed and measured. "God," "Creator," and "Supreme Otherworldly Supernatural Designer" cannot be observed, cannot be measured, and postulating such creatures is not useful to an understanding of life on Earth.

A few centuries back, thunder was explained as the noise of Thor's chariot, and lightning was attributed to Zeus. The mechanisms of thunder and lightning are easily explained by current science. Our understanding of evolution is fairly complete. Newly discovered species fit very nicely where we expect them to. If a find cannot be classified under the current system, the system is changed to accomodate it and becomes that much more accurate a model. I have trouble believing that your god could be threatened by something as simple as the scientific process.

Constant questions are the source of human ingenuity. "God does it. Let us pray." is not a very interesting answer. Those who are satisfied by such an answer are at a severe disadvantage in any discussion that begins, "So how does...?" To claim that a greater understanding of the forces of nature is somehow an affront to all that is decent and holy is to relegate oneself into obscurity and stagnation.

I've have spent the last 2400 posts being visually assaulted with the results. None for me, thanks.
