God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. (1 Corinthians 1:27)
"The Bible teaches that the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. He purposely chose the weak and foolish things to shame the strong and wise." "This feature of God's personality is also expressed in Jesus' words: "A bruised reed he will not break; and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out." A bruised reed and a smoldering wick were familiar household items, gone beyond their term of usefulness. They were ready to be discarded. But Jesus was speaking of people; persons... worn out, used up---discouraged, and rejected."
"An uncle of mine, lived in our home for all my childhood. Every time my mother would throw out some trash, he would rummage about on the junk pile, salvaging bits and pieces. Later, he would gather them up and take them to his room. He couldn't understand how anyone could throw out such 'precious' articles. God is like my uncle was. What others think is valueless, he treasures. The foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man."
