Pope Francis-appointed Cardinal Domenico Battaglia of Naples has written the forward for a pro-LGBT book on “transgender people.”
Battaglia’s forward was translated by Elisa Belotti for New Ways Ministry, an LGBTQ+ activist group promoting the normalization of homosexuality and transgenderism within the Catholic Church.
Battaglia’s words are carefully chosen, leaning towards the acceptance of transgenderism while failing to mention the Church’s explicit teaching on the subject.
He wrote that we find ourselves in “a fragile and complex time, but also a fruitful one, because it forces us to take nothing for granted. A time that challenges the Church in profound ways, calling it to renew its understanding of the human person, to cross new thresholds without losing its soul.”
“The ecclesial community is called to walk in listening and discernment, remaining faithful to the Gospel,” said the cardinal, arguing that at the same time it is called to be “attentive to the suffering, expectations, and questions that arise from the lived experiences of so many people.”
“The issue of gender dysphoria, transgender identities, and life experiences that do not conform to traditional models raises profound questions. For the Church, too,” he claimed.
“But precisely for this reason, it calls for listening that is even more respectful and attentive. A step that is not one of judgment, but of accompaniment,” he insisted. “The aim is not to take hasty positions, but to mature through dialogue, prayer, and the spiritual and theological depth of a broad and shared ecclesial discernment, one that respects people and is rooted in truth.”
In late 2024, the then-newly-appointed cardinal shockingly gave a platform to an LGBT activist during a liturgical celebration.
On December 31, Battaglia celebrated a “Te Deum Mass” at the Naples cathedral, during which he allowed LGBT activist Cristiano Cimmino from Naples’ LGBT group “i Ken” to address the faithful.
During his speech, Cimmino advertised the LGBT group as a “lay pastoral community” born from a “group of [self-professed] homosexual and transgender people."
He celebrated what he called a “ground for dialogue between the Church, association, and institutions” to create so-called “safe spaces in schools so that no one feels judged.”
“Safe spaces” are a common tactic used by LGBT activists to encourage students in homosexuality and gender confusion and prohibit criticism of such deviant behaviors.
Traditionally, the Te Deum Mass offers thanksgiving to God for the blessings of the past year as Catholics prepare for the New Year.
The move to allow an LGBT activist to address Catholics during Mass, one of the first incidents of its kind, was roundly celebrated by secular media outlets.
“LGBT Channel TV” remarked that “for the first time, an LGBTQIA+ voice […] has found space in such a solemn context,” adding that “what happened […] is not just a celebration. It was an epochal step.”
Likewise, when news of Pope Francis appointing Battaglia as cardinal was made public, “i Ken” celebrated the decision, mentioning the “strong commitment to dialogue with the [so-called] LGBTQ+ community” of the new member of the sacred college.
In his own homily, Battaglia asked Our Lord to break “in us the fear of change,” failing to explain that Catholic doctrine can never change.
In fact, the Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly states that God created humans “male and female” and that, “Physical, moral, and spiritual difference and complementarity are oriented toward the goods of marriage and the flourishing of family life.”
“The harmony of the couple and of society depends in part on the way in which the complementarity, needs, and mutual support between the sexes are lived out,” the Catechism continues.

That’s called a backward.
Well, there are a lot of trans prostitutes in Naples. In fact there are a lot of prostitutes from Africa trafficked into it. I can’t blame prostitutes because most are so beaten down and damaged, it is like kicking a kitten, but I can blame the men who see it and confirm it.
Where are the men who fight against this sin? Latching onto trends like trans is a whole lot easier and face it, much more popular than fighting for the poor and extorted and those confused and mired in sin.
I do not remember in the Gospels Jesus playing for popularity, nor did the disciples.
But then again, I might not be reading the new and improved version.
