I have had to make one concession to the bureaucracy. From now on I will hire a company to file my income tax; state and federal electronically. In talking to a very nice entry level employee at the Bend IRS office, I found out even if you give the bureaucracy the bank ID and account number on a paper return, they will often ignore the information and send you a letter requiring you to use ID.me to set up an account to house the information. Eventually you will receive a check, but the federal government in general will not issue checks. By filing electronically, you enter a different part of the maze. Remember IRS employees now hired are incapable of understanding how to deal with paper.

It is hard for a person who worked as an accountant to hire a company to do my taxes, but I realize I can take comfort in my determination to not participate in the twenty first century and electronic filing is clearly a twenty first century skill which I refuse to learn.

Each week I still take cash from the account to cover most transactions but still have what the credit agencies consider a huge reliance on the credit card, even though we pay it in full every month. The morons at the credit rating agencies take the balance at the end of a month instead of recognizing the balance is consistently zero.

I didn't read the article, but I can tell why. They plan to tax wealth, and the only way they can do that effectively is if there is no wealth that isn't registered somewhere as real estate, stocks, bonds, bank accounts, etc. Get rid of cash and track everything then they can extort tax everything. I keep getting “attaboys” from agencies for reducing our credit balance to zero. But we do that every single month!!
