Since 2019-2020, during the reign of Bergoglio (‘Pope’ Francis), Catholics were discombobulated with the introduction of a bizarre phrase never before known or heard by the most well-known theologians, historians, and scholars of Catholic theology: The Synod on Synodality.
A good general background on the Synod on Synodality, an apt acronym being SoS (Save our Souls), can be found on Wikipedia here.
One of the hallmarks of the SoS, which most Catholics seem to miss or want to avoid, is the fact that it will result in a new Church. Many everyday Catholics are oblivious to this; quite many who are able to see the changes coming, who are repelled or uncomfortable by the whole slipperiness of ideas related to women’s ordinations, homosexual priests and masses, etc. do get defensive about the SoS. Many of them will bring up topics such as the indefectibility of the Catholic Church, the constancy and primacy of the Pope, the Church being able to withstand the gates of Hell, and so on. Yet some will argue that “There’s no such thing as the “synodal Church.” There’s only the Catholic Church”, and that, “the Church has had Synods for literally her entire existence.”
Is the phrase “the synodal Church” therefore accurate in describing the current status quo and trajectory of the Catholic Church?
The Vatican website devoted to all things synodal says this in context with “Participation” (emphasis added):
“In a synodal Church the whole community is called together to pray, listen, analyse, dialogue, discern and offer advice on making pastoral decisions which correspond as closely as possible to God’s will”
Right from the get-go, it is clear that the modernists intend a veiled distinction between the Catholic Church, and what is clearly referred to as a synodal Church in their lexicon. A review of the website above also reveals that it is indeed rare to find the words “Catholic” or “the Catholic Church” in it.
Let us look at another example. In 2023, Vatican News reported that Cardinal Ambongo saw Synodality as “a new way of being Church”
The takeaway here being that a “new way of being Church” is another way of saying that the modernists are readying a new church, and Catholics are being indoctrinated, conditioned, and programmed into adapting themselves to this new Church.
On July 23, 2026, Vatican News posted that “FABC delegates envision a synodal Church that builds bridges across Asia”.
In this article, two key questions were asked, the second of which is more telling (emphasis added)
“How can the Church respond to today's geopolitical, social, and cultural realities as a builder of bridges? And what conversion is required for local Churches to become more missionary and synodal?”
The conclusion is that,
Synodality, […] must become the ordinary way of being Church.
Cardinal Ambongo had this additional aspect to say (emphasis mine):
“The main intention, the primary objective of the Synod, is about how we can become a new Church together, acquire a new way of being the Church; in our way of being, in our operating structures, in our collaboration structures”.
It is thus clear that the synodal church is a new church and is not the same as the Catholic Church.
One could find scores of other such references to a new synodal church issued by the Vatican and its managerial mafiosi. The phrase “the Catholic Church” is slowly, but surely, being obscured by an altogether flurry of references to “a synodal church”; moreover the demand is that Catholics should be converted to ensure that Synodality “…MUST become the ordinary way of being Church”.
These references to a “synodal Church” are not mere metaphors or euphemisms. There would have been no harm in continuing to use the term by which the Church has always historically been identified, viz: “The Catholic Church”, as is evident in various creeds?
The answer to the question starts taking shape when one goes through documents released by the Vatican, which although couched in corporate and managerial lexicon, and being a complete word-salad, inherently speak of transformation, experimentation, and even evolution.
To illustrate my point, Cardinal Grech, for example, has mused that synodality will transform the Church from “uniformity of thought” to “unity in differences” — a changing of attitudes first, to quote Leo’s own words.
Another document on the same subject issued by the Vatican, similarly talks about experimentation within “laboratories of synodality”.1
Yet another document issued under Francis, with due homage to Vatican II, implies an evolutionary trajectory from the Catholic Church towards the new synodal church. Using expressions and vocabulary that would have ensured ones censure under pre-conciliar popes, the passage expressly professes novelties and subjective concepts rooted in modernist-liberal philosophy, such as “lived experience”.2
In summary, the synodal phase is expected to experiment, transform, evolve and morph subtly into a new church; the current phase that Catholics find themselves in, is meant to condition, adapt, and mould their thoughts towards accepting something that is alien to actual Catholicism.
Many Catholics today are unable to see that Catholicism has been replaced by modernism by cloaking and dressing it up with a hollow and vacuous word such as “synodality” — a decoy in reality.
Catholics are also befuddled and unable to see that the ecclesiological direction of the Church has been reoriented thanks to the manipulative abuse of aspects such as obedience and loyalty due towards the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church; After all, what does a devout Catholic do when Rome and the Pope itself enforce a different culture and ecclesiology — liturgy included — from all of Church history? Which is why the letter of St. Paul to the Galatians (Chapter 1, verses 6 to 10) needs to remind Catholics of our duty to God first in such circumstances.3
One can also compare the current status quo of the synodal Church, with the writings of Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich; She foresaw an identical situation to what we are going through. Her visions capture the image of the synodal church like no other. Writing in the 1820s, Bl. Emmerich writes vividly about a false church, false religion, and a counterfeit church on several occasions (see image below).
In this post I haven’t taken you dear reader, down the rabbit hole of obfuscations within the several documents issued by the Vatican on Synodality. Because they are meant to distract and confound us.
All that one needs to take away from “synodality” is that it is a modernist phrase under whose cover the modernists mean to usher in a new church — one with a new ecclesiology and a new liturgy — one that is meant to replace the Catholic Faith and Church as even Bp. Fulton Sheen is reported to have warned (italics mine):
"[…] It [The false church] will have all the notes and characteristics of the [Catholic] Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the Antichrist that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ..."
Isn’t it clear just by looking at some of the recent words and actions from Rome, that the ecclesiology is redirected away from God towards man, climate, environment, etc.? That is “the new synodal church”.
Isn’t it clear that subjectivism, relativism, sexual abuse, a suffocating tolerance and promotion of values from the LGBTQ+ camp, depravity, injustice, & lawlessness under the guise of inclusion, dignity, and modernist-liberal philosophy, occupy the documents & statements coming from the Vatican? That is “the new synodal church”.
Isn’t it clear that when the Mother of God is deemed unworthy of a title of her being the Co-redemptrix with her Son; or when those who issue a 154 point profession of fidelity to the Catholic Faith are ignored and treated with scant respect — all while the red carpet is rolled out by the Vatican to those on the broad path? That is “the new synodal church”.

The Church has a mixed record on this, historically, to be sure; but the claim and the aspiration is a part of the identity of Catholicism, and the very foundation of the Papacy. Prevost is following the path of Bergoglio away from the Apostolic succession into an autocratically controlled bureaucracy that will soon enough render the church unrecognizable.
